As it's my blog, I think I'll make this all about me. Mike Pearson & Ross Nieuwenhuizen show us how they won a D&AD In Book award. I suspect the audacious nature of this spot is what turned the judge's eye – it's a functional but clever marriage of great copy and great type. So after experiencing a taste of the judging process earlier in the year, I somehow managed to infiltrate the D&AD Awards ceremony last night just up the road from work near Old Street. Categories, Ryan Purcell and Alexandra Hickmott of RMIT University got a 1st in Copywriting for this campaign (the brief was to "Create a copy-based campaign to promote D&AD's 'refreshed' edition of The Copy Book"). For wider reflections on D&AD visit John's blog. There was also a tantalising glimpse of the D&AD Copy Book in the Innocent studio – now surely overdue for a reprint or, better still, a new edition. Mike Pearson & Ross Nieuwenhuizen show us how they won Medium-Weight Team (Art and Copy). Product: The Copy Book (Revised Edition). The whole affair just stank, I'm afraid, and judging by the D&AD website, it appears little has changed: a single competition entry and a copy of their book will set you back a minimum £240 this year. But if you buy a second, I'd highly recommend the exquisite new edition of D&AD's The Copy Book. Target Market: Students & Copywriters. On the judging process, visit Nick's blog. My fellow jurors (Nick Asbury, Fiona Set in cleverly weighted white type that emphasised chosen phrases, the sharp copy was printed directly on to a black bottle: The wine you're about to enjoy should not exist. Media: 2x Posters + 2x A4 Adverts in Advertising Annuals. D&AD and TASCHEN have joined forces to bring you an updated and redesigned edition of the publication, including works from the last 15 years. I think Indian writers need to open their minds a bit more about how to get there in a different way. On our six tables, there were 70-odd entries including books, bottles, posters, mailers, annual reports, leaflets, cards, websites, three bikinis and a pair of vibrators.
